Gen Spencer Mcllrath

Gen is proud to be a member of a long-time Dieringer family. Her grandfather,
Thomas J. Spencer was an early Dieringer School Board member while serving as
the Superintendent of the nearby Puget Sound Power & Light Dieringer
Hydroelectric plant. Her father, Thomas E. Spencer and seven of his brothers and
sisters graduated from the “old” Dieringer School in the valley. Gen, two of her
siblings, her three children and grandson are also Dieringer graduates. Her
granddaughter currently attends Lake Tapps Elementary. Gen’s mother, Gen
Spencer served as the District Nurse in the early 1970’s.
Family history aside, Gen served as District Cook, Middle School Secretary and
Office Manager at North Tapps Middle School. After retirement in 2019, she
joined the Dieringer Education Foundation Board and is looking forward to
assisting in future endeavors of the Foundation. As her father, Thomas E. Spencer
said, “This school district is our community and our students are the best
representatives our community could have.”
As a former Dieringer student who has indeed represented the best
characteristics of this district, Gen’s legacy of service to others can now be
extended to include the Dieringer Education Foundation. Her goal is to continue
to serve the students in the district for many years to come.
